Take online wine classes with Vinolust! Learn all about wine from the comfort of home.
No matter where you are on your journey with wine, it is always a wonderful time to return to the basics! This three-week class is for wine beginners and wine enthusiasts alike who want to hone their wine knowledge and tasting technique. We will cover the fundamentals of how where a grape goes and who the winemaker is ultimately affects the wine itself. Also the proper technique to tasting wine for evaluation, what makes a wine good quality (regardless of whether or not you like it!) and how to break down and demystify the tasting note process.
Class 1: The Vine & the Wine
Our first class covers the process of growing grapes, making wine and the wine market. We will also break down where aromas in wine come from the basic guidelines for how to approach wine tasting.
Class 2: The Old World
Next we look at wine regions of Europe, what is considered the “Old World”. We will learn about what defines Old World wines and why, and what to expect when tasting them. We will also talk about what wine structure is and how to identify it.
Class 3: The New World
Finally we review the rest of the wine world, places where wine is made, and how ‘New World’ wines make their own distinctive mark and why. In our tasting portion we will discuss what makes a wine worth aging vs. drinking now and how to decide with your tasting.
Each class we will taste three wines and spend the latter portion of class evaluating and breaking down each wine together from a sommelier’s perspective. There will be selection of 9 specific wines available as a tasting pack from Hi-Time Wine Cellars, but you can also source wines yourself for class. You will receive a separate email when the tasting selections are available for purchase/sourcing.
