Wines of Northern Italy: Beyond Barolo

Italy is home to over 2,000 indigenous grape varietals. The wine of the country is defined by each region’s unique relationship with its native grapes, most of which are not commonly found here. Yet it is the individuality of these varietals that makes Italy such an exciting and powerful presence on the world stage of wine, and a constant adventure to taste and explore.

Famous for Barolo and Barbaresco, Piemonte has wine traditions and varietals that go beyond Nebbiolo. This class we will take a look at three other wines of the region that may not have the notoriety but do have the novelty.

Wines tasted during this class:
2019 La Ghibellina Gavi “Mainin”
2012 San Ferolo Dolcetto Dogliani
2016 Cantina del Pino Barbera d’Asti
